Strip & Seal Sunshine Coast
Two things shape strip and seal on the Sunshine Coast: sand and the season. Sand is abrasive, so a sealed floor at a coastal site wears through in the traffic lane noticeably faster than the same floor inland — a café entry at Mooloolaba or a surf club foyer is effectively being sanded every day it is open. And the calendar matters, because the sensible time to close a floor is the shoulder season rather than through summer or school holidays. Medical centres, childcare, schools, cafés and holiday accommodation common areas make up most of what we do from Caloundra through to Noosa.

What we get called out for in Sunshine Coast
- Café, club and hospitality floors from Caloundra to Noosa, sealed between close and open or in the shoulder season
- Medical centres and childcare scheduled between clinic days and into holiday closures
- Holiday accommodation foyers and common corridors, worked in sections so the building always has a way in
The method itself is the same wherever we take it — the full strip & seal process is set out on the service page, and everything we cover in this region is on the Sunshine Coast page.

What happens on the day in Sunshine Coast
Assessment
We identify the floor, the coating on it, and what condition it is really in.
Area prepared
Fittings moved, skirtings and drains masked, the area closed off.
Strip
Stripper goes down, gets its dwell time, then the old coating comes off.
Deep clean
The bare floor is scrubbed, the slurry extracted, the surface neutralised.
Dry and check
We moisture-check it. Sealer over a damp floor is what goes milky.
Seal
Three to five coats, each one cured before the next goes on.
Final inspection
We walk it with you and say when it can take foot traffic again.
Strip & Seal in Sunshine Coast — your questions
Anything not covered here, message us and we’ll answer in plain English.
Ask on WhatsAppWhen is the best time of year to do this on the coast?
The shoulder seasons, and it is worth planning for. Closing a floor through summer or the school holidays costs a coastal business far more in lost trade than the job itself, whereas the same work in a quiet month is barely noticed. If your floor is going to need doing within the year, booking it into a quiet stretch is the cheapest decision you will make about it.
Our entry floor wears out faster than the rest. Is that normal here?
It is normal anywhere within reach of a beach. Sand carried in on feet acts as an abrasive against the sealer, and the first few metres inside the door take almost all of it. Matting at the entry genuinely extends the life of the coating, and where an entry is wearing badly we will often recommend an extra coat there rather than an earlier full re-strip.
How long does a strip and seal take, and when can we walk on it?
The strip and the deep clean are the fast part. What sets the timeline is curing: the floor has to be neutralised and properly dry before any sealer goes on, and each of the three to five coats has to cure before the next. A typical office suite is an overnight job; a large site is staged across a weekend or a shutdown. Light foot traffic is usually possible several hours after the last coat, and we give you the exact hour before we leave rather than a guess.
Which floors can be stripped and sealed?
The ones built to carry a coating: vinyl sheet and VCT, lino, sealed concrete and some sealed tile. Unsealed timber wants sanding, not stripping. And a floor that is gouged, cupped or delaminating will still be gouged, cupped and delaminating under new sealer — a fresh coat makes a tired floor look new, but it does not repair one. We identify which you have at the assessment.
