What carpet cleaning actually involves
Hot-water extraction — what most people call steam cleaning — is the method carpet manufacturers specify, and it is the only one that removes soil rather than redistributing it. We pre-spray, agitate the pile so the solution reaches the base of the fibre, then extract with enough vacuum that the carpet is damp rather than wet. That is what gets you a 4–8 hour dry time instead of two days of damp underlay.
Pet stains are a different job to dirt. Urine soaks past the fibre into the backing and the underlay, and surface cleaning simply moves the smell around. We treat at the level the contamination actually sits at, and we will tell you honestly if it has gone far enough that the underlay needs replacing.
For end-of-lease cleans we photograph before and after and give you the record in writing, because that is usually what the property manager wants to see before they sign off the bond.

Property managers generally want two things: the carpets professionally cleaned, and evidence of it. We do both — hot-water extraction, which is the method carpet manufacturers specify, and a written record with before-and-after photos you can hand straight to the agent. Tell us the exit inspection date when you book and we will work to it. We clean the carpets and hard floors; we are not a full bond-clean company doing ovens and windows to a checklist.
How long does carpet take to dry?
About four to eight hours in most Queensland homes. That range is a function of extraction, not of time — we pull enough water back out that the carpet is damp rather than wet. If a carpet is still soaking the next morning, it was under-extracted, not badly dried. Humidity and airflow move the number, so on a wet week we will tell you to leave the fans on.
Will pet urine and the smell actually come out?
It depends how far it went. Urine soaks through the fibre into the backing and then the underlay, and cleaning only the surface just moves the smell around the room. We treat at the level the contamination actually sits at, which usually works. Where it has soaked into the underlay and the subfloor, no clean will fix it and the underlay needs replacing — we will tell you that on the day rather than after the invoice.
Do I need to move the furniture first?
Not all of it. We move what two people can safely move and put protective blocks under the legs while the carpet dries. We do not move pianos, full display cabinets, beds with storage bases or anything electrical still connected. Clear the small things off the floor and we will handle the rest — and if a room needs emptying, say so at the quote so it is in the price.
