Tile Cleaning & Grout Removal Sunshine Coast

Sand is what makes grout cleaning different up here. Fine coastal sand works down into the grout line where a vacuum will never reach it, then acts as an abrasive every time someone walks across the floor — so a Sunshine Coast tiled hallway wears at the grout rather than the tile. The second thing is closed-up houses. A holiday home at Peregian, Coolum or Noosaville that sits shut through the off-season grows mould in the shower recess in a way an occupied house never does, and the owners generally find it the day before the first booking.

FAQs

Tile Cleaning & Grout Removal in Sunshine Coast — your questions

Anything not covered here, message us and we’ll answer in plain English.

Ask on WhatsApp
How do we keep sand out of the grout between cleans?

You will not keep it out entirely — nobody on this coast does — but sealed grout gives the sand nothing to lodge in, so a vacuum actually gets it. That is the case for sealing on a coastal floor even when the grout is not visibly dirty yet, and it is the single most useful thing you can do for a tiled hallway between the beach and the living room.

Can you get into a holiday property while it is vacant between bookings?

Yes, and vacant is easier — no furniture to work around and no rush on drying time. If you or the managing agent can leave access arranged, we do not need anyone on site, and we send photos of the finished work rather than needing you to come and look. That suits owners who live somewhere else, which is most of them up here.

Can dark grout be brought back to its original colour?

Usually, if it is dirty. Grout is porous, so it holds grease, soap and grit rather than being coated by it, and a hot-water high-pressure tool reaches into the line and extracts what a brush only pushes around. What will not come back is grout that has been stained through by something dyed, or grout that has broken down and is crumbling — that needs replacing, and we will tell you which one you have before you pay for a clean.

Should I seal grout after it has been cleaned?

In a shower or a busy entryway, yes — a penetrating sealer buys you a couple of years before the grout starts holding dirt again. In a low-traffic room it is often not worth it. We price it as a separate option rather than folding it into the quote, so you can decide once you have seen the floor clean.
