What tile cleaning & grout removal actually involves
Grout is porous, so it holds everything the tile sheds — grease in a kitchen, soap and body oil in a shower, tracked-in grit at an entryway. Once it is in there, a scrubbing brush and supermarket cleaner will not reach it. We use a high-pressure hot-water tool that works the grout line and vacuums the dirty water straight off the floor in the same pass.
Where grout has failed rather than just discoloured — crumbling, cracked or missing — cleaning is not the fix. We will tell you that, and where it makes sense we remove the failed grout and re-grout the affected lines so the wet area is actually sealed again.
Sealing after cleaning is worth it in a shower or a busy entry: it buys you a couple of years before the grout starts holding dirt again. We will price it as an option rather than folding it in without asking.
